Malaga Costa del Sol Airport saw a 6.6% increase in passengers during 2011 with just over 12.8 million which is 800.000 more than the previous year
Despite this increase the figure is still far away from the record set in 2007 of 13.5 million travellers which was without the new terminal.
Malaga-Costa del Sol airport is the fourth busiest airport in Spain behind Madrid Barajas, Barcelona El Prat and Palma de Mallorca.
With the popularity of the Costa del Sol as a holiday destination, the new Ryanair hub and more UK airports launching flights into Malaga, 2012 should hopefully again show an increase in passenger traffic
