New Rules for Flying with Pets

From 1st January 2012 new and much improved regulations have been introduced for Pet Passports. It now means that you don't have to wait for six months for a rabies blood test certificate before your pet can enter the UK without going into quarantine.

The new compliance uses the EU combination vaccine and provides a collar tag that indicates your pet has been vaccinated. The animal is still micro-chipped before being vaccinated against rabies and is eligible to travel from 21 days of vaccination.

The requirement for tapeworm treatment is still under discussion with the European Commission and yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that dogs must be treated against tapeworms no less than 24hrs and no more than 120hrs before expected arrival in UK.
